For our Mentees
Bruce Rock DHS year 9/10 students are part of a True Blue Dreaming program and they hope to expand it to include year 8 students in the near future.
These comic books were designed and illustrated by the year 8 students through Regional Development Australia Wheatbelt Inc.’s ‘Sharing Stories by Comic’ project.
The young people attended a cartoon drawing workshop with facilitator and artist James Foley (James Foley Illustrations) to further develop their drawing skills. They then chose a relevant rural youth issue and based their comic book on real life experiences through encouragement of other young people to tell their story.
The comic books will provide education about issues that rural young people face, in the language of young people.
